Hi, we're the Coughlins, and we're a bit nutty. Shawn and Jenean have been married over 30 years, and their kids, Carlee, Ben, and Bryce, have been right alongside them that entire time. Both from Saginaw, they met at Chi Chi's on Bay road, where Jenean was Shawns manager, and the rest is history.
In 2017, after years in Corporate America, Jenean wanted something new, something fresh. The days being out of town and away from her family were eating at her, and felt the need to "stick around some more". So, she jumped off a cliff into the unknown, and bought a local apple orchard. Shawn would follow suit in 2020, after leaving his corporate job as well.
Lots have changed over the years. The store, although charming as it was, needed a full redesign. New local vendors were brought in, a small cafe had popped up, and new faces started to follow their story. Ben came on full time after graduating from MSU in 2020, and now is their GM. The taphouse was formed in 2020, adding a whole new piece to a slowly growing business.
That brings us to today. Every time someone walks in the door, even our regulars, they have no clue what to expect. It's something we thrive on. We constantly challenge each other and ourselves to be better, and that hopefully will only take us forward from here. The adventure is alive and well, and the best is yet to come. Cheers!
